about

Looking Back contains songs I recorded in Boston in 1995 & 96 for an album that never materialized and demos I made to take to Nashville when we moved there. The tapes sat in a drawer, several drawers actually, for about 10 years. During that time I gave up writing and playing guitar. I almost threw them out more than once. After a while I felt I had gotten enough space and closure to go back and listen to them. I remember being pleasantly surprised and thinking, "not bad, not bad." There was definitely some cringing too. I ended up choosing 11 songs out of the 25 or so I had recorded. These were the ones I was still proud of and had gotten a decent enough recording of to want to share with people. Some songs from that era sadly, were never recorded and have gone back to wherever it is that songs come from. I hope by making these tunes available now, after all this time, that people who know me and wish I still did this sort of thing will be pleased. And if anyone new should happen to find it and enjoy it, so much the better. It can be fun looking back now and then but I'm more interested in the road ahead.

Peace,
Rick Tarquinio (3/11/2010)

about

Rick Tarquinio New Jersey

My music is created very simply using improvisation, chance procedures or accidental means. I also do a lot of field recording and sound experiments using natural forces to create sound. I used to be a singer/songwriter in a past life, but every caterpillar has its day...
